'Western Pennsylvania' is defined as residency in any of the following counties: Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Cambria, Clarion, Crawford, Erie, Fayette, Forest, Greene, Indiana, Jefferson, Lawrence, Mercer, Somerset, Venango, Warren, Washington, and Westmoreland. Each Educational Recipient must be a resident of Western Pennsylvania who can verify residency for at least two (2) years prior to receiving a grant.Selection of the scholarship recipients will be the responsibility of a Scholarship Committee comprised of two faculty members from the Department of HRIM and a representative of the Office of Financial Aid at IUP. Laura Mateer, a 1924 graduate of Indiana Normal School, has expressed a desire to establish a scholarship for students enrolled in the Department of Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management. Deadline for the submission of applications is May 1 for the following fall semester.Ī.If the recipient does not meet the criteria for the second semester, another qualified student will be selected for the award. Maintenance of the scholarship award for a second semester will be dependent on the satisfactory progress toward a degree in HRIM and the achievement of a 2.5 grade point average at the end of the first semester.
